Handmade Book Cover
I'm a 50-year-old housewife living in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, Western part of Japan. I'm on my menopausal stage, and I am prone to having serious diseases. I quit my work in 2014, and I have been relaxing at home these days. I want to polish my English skills by writing this blog.
Recent Updates
I quit RareJob lessons at the end of August, 2016. It was my 3rd anniversary of taking lessons. I thought it was enough because I am getting older and I don't expect any job opportunity with English related. We don't have any foreign neigbors in the countryside.
I have already uploaded many pictures up to now. I feel it takes me quite a lot of time to upload another pictures, so I started writing another diary.

I went to a Red Cross hospital this morning.
My fever went up 37 degrees on October 16, then rose more than 38 degrees on Oct. 17 until 21.
I felt very tired these couple of days. I thought that it is the beginning of my menopause as I am already 48 years old.
I always feel blue when my husband comes home because he always expects me to prepare dinner for him even though I feel tired and just want to stay in bed.
Every time, he tells me, "Don't worry. I can wait one hour or two so take it easy."
If only he would say, "Don't worry. I can cook supper myself,” or "I will go and buy something to eat at the grocery," I would feel happier.
But he is not that kind of man. He would rather sit down and go online and check the flower auction sites than help with the kitchen chores.
I felt happy when he had a day off from work today, and he took me to the hospital.
He even accompanied me to the doctor’s clinic room.
The doctor told me that I am seriously affected with herpes and this was caused by excessive stress and working hard.
"Don't work too hard. Take a good rest. Please have enough sleep." That was what the doctor said.
She prescribed some medicines to me, and I reserved an appointment with her on the following Friday.
My chicken pox in the childhood days evolved to herpes because my physical strength became weaker.

I went to a hospital this morning.
My temperature went up to more than 37 degrees on Thursday 16, then rose more than 38 degrees on Friday 17 to Tuesday 21.
I knew I was very tired these days. I thought that I felt the timing of my monthly period is ending at the age, 48, that is menopausal generation.
I have felt blue when my husband comes home around 5 or 6 p.m. because he only waits me for preparing supper even though I feel like tired and want to remain staying in bed.
Everytime he says, "Don't worry. I can wait one hour or two so easily."
If he would say "Don't worry. I can cook supper very quickly," or "I will go and buy something to eat at the grocery," I feel happier. But he is not the man who can act as such. He prefers to check flower auction sites on the Internet rather than kitchen chores.

What I ate yesterday
Every year I go to a medical check-up, and I am always told that I have the Dyslipidemia (or Hyperlididemia), one of the nutritional and metabolic disease.
I am not a nutritional expert, and I don't know much about it. But I cooked something which might be helpful to my health.
I took some of the pictures then, so I would like to share what I ate yesterday.
A cup of soymilk
(Isoflavone is said to be helpful to people in my age)
I took a cup of rice with Natto.
I sliced an apple for breakfast.
For lunch, I took some pumkins. (Microwave - 3 minutes.)
This is the pan which I use for more than 18 years.
I can attach a sieve in the upper level; I put some water in the lower one.
Steamed sweet potatoes
I boiled Shimeji mushrooms and sliced onions.
a package of vegetables
(soy sprout, sliced carrots, cabbages, leeks, green peppers)
(soy sprout, sliced carrots, cabbages, leeks, green peppers)
A bin of a ponzu dressing (juice pressed from citrus)
Compared with soy sauce, this contains less salt.
Upper in the left: young soybeans in the pod
I think I should have eaten more protein yesterday.
-----
I had a fever of more than 38 degrees for four days until yesterday, so I tried to drink much of water.
I had 2 petbottles of sweetened tea in the refrigerator, so I drank all of them yesterday.
The sweetened taste made me easy to drink.

Our festivals
A big typhoon approached All across Japan yesterday and we had a terrible weather in western Japan yesterday. I went out to grocery store which was located in front of our house. The only 50-meter walk, I had my umbrella broken due to strong wind. I was fortunate because I didn't get hurt.
My husband who teaches science in a local high school watched TV weather forecasts all the time yesterday. It made me restless, and I preferred to stay another room during the weekend.
Last Saturday, Oct. 12, we walked about 15 minutes to see a small festival that night. I took some photos. Here are some. It's called Okuyama Hachiman Festival.

We are having another festivals for today and tomorrow. It's called Nada Fighting Festival. I have some pictures which I took from our veranda a few years ago.
You can see the blue color stuff. It represents they belong to our team. We used to have seven villages in our area. Each village has different color, that means seven colors.
In our festival, each village has fights by crashing portable shrines on October 15.
That is tomorrow, and I would like you to visit the site <--- please click here!> to see more details.
Almost every year, one person was carrying the shrine would get hurt by between the portable shrines during the fight.
I visit Matsubara Hachiman Shrine every year to see the fight. It is only 5 minutes by bike from our house.
It is a very famous festival in western part of Japan. I see many people there and actually it is the most busiest season in our town.
This year, I am curious to see Oshio Shishimai, another festival, too. I have never been there. The pictures were borrowed from some public tourist association. It is held in the place where two train station away from our nearest station.
